The beginning of clock production in the Black Forest goes back to the 17th century. The origin of the cuckoo clock has not been scientifically proven to this day, but Franz Anton Ketterer is considered to be the one who succeeded around 1750 in imitating the call of a cuckoo with two different sounding bellows. In the long and snowy winter months, many clockmakers in the Black Forest tinkered with the cuckoo clocks.

Like our ancestors, we also attach great importance to the high quality of our cuckoo clocks. Only precise, mechanical movements are used for our cuckoo clocks. All wood carvings and watch cases are made by hand. All important components of our watches are made in the Black Forest, often by small family companies that work exclusively for Hönes. Even today, our clocks are not mass-produced, but rather very special pieces with the highest quality standards.

We manufacture many different models of cuckoo clocks. The classics include sculptures - carved clocks with mostly traditional motifs - and chalets - cuckoo clocks in the shape of a house. The Clock Of The Year is a special clock that will only be produced in a limited edition this year. In addition to traditional clocks, we also produce quartz clocks, which are available also as a sculpture or chalet.
